THIRD MEETING: FEB 27 2019

1 hour shopping for the machine at Rona: AL and LL
Third discussion and work for 2:30 hours (all team members met in person at Annie's house).

Agenda :

***CHANGE IN PLANS: MAJOR MODIFICATIONS FOR THE MACHINE (3D printer, length, etc.)***

*Changes plans for the reunion*

  • Adjust materials and plans for the machine (ex: some of the materials we have chosen previously were not optimal. While discussing, we chose lighter, more resistant materials).

  • Make contact with person responsible of 3D printer (broken)

  • Shop for materials

  • Continue progress check #2

Discussion/progress made:

  • AM, LL, AL: Modification of the machine’s materials previously determined (base of the machine, sticks holding the wheels together, wheels, etc.)

  • AM, LL, AL: List of material that would need to be bought:

  • Elastic band (roll if possible)

  • Long stick (to raise the mass)

  • Rollerblade wheels

  • LL and AL: went to Rona to shop for the materials

  • AM, LL, AL: spoke with people to know if they already own some of the materials

  • AM: made contact to print the base and the pulley with the 3D printer

  • AM, LL, AL: made sure that the materials for the machine are optimal

  • AM, LL, AL: planned the steps for building the machine and set a date for the next meeting (AM will be on vacation so separate the tasks that have to be done before progress check #2)

  • AM, LL, AL: discussed the possibility of a vertical steering wheel or 1 fixed wheel

----------

  • AM, LL, AL: List of material already owned:

  • Carbon arrows (x2 to link the wheels together and support them)

  • Fishing mass

  • Screws, nails, tools, etc.

Objectives for next time (when no name is written, everyone needs to participate):

  • Consider the possibility of changing what will be printed with the 3D printer (possible new designs)

  • LL, AL: Build the machine and complete progress check #2

FOURTH MEETING: MAR 7 2019

AL and LL: met at Réno Dépôt and Lysanne's house (total of 4.5 hours)

Agenda :

  • Adjust materials for the machine (plans have changed a bit again since last time, some changes affect the materials, their proportions, etc.)

  • Shop for new materials

  • Discuss on adjustments required to be made on the machine's plans (accordingly to the changes on the system and the machine (see problems encountered for more details))

  • Build the machine

Discussion/progress made:

  • LL, AL: modification of some of the machine’s materials and of the machine's plan

  • LL, AL: bought new materials

  • LL, AL: built the machine and filmed the progress made (see progress check #2)

  • LL, AL: prepared work for when AM comes back (AM on vacation): decorations

Objectives for next time:

  • AM: Design the basket and send to 3D printer + decorate the machine

  • AM, LL, AL: finish building the machine

  • Test and modify what doesn't work

  • Decorate the machine

Discussion/progress made (when no name is written, everyone participated)

  • Modification of the machine's materials and its plan :

  1. The mass of the object is now 1.36 kg (3 pounds)

  2. A thin layer of wood is added under the styrofoam to support the machine and solidify it

  3. There are now 4 back wheels instead of 2 (2 with bearing motion and 2 moving with the shaft)

  4. Plastic blockers were added on all sides of the inner back wheels to help the shaft stay in place

  5. There is no basket because the mass falls more slowly than expected

  • Finish building the machine

Decorate the machine

  • AM (2h)

  1. The machine is a boat

  2. Paint all in white with grey windows at the front and side

Objectives for next time (when no name is written, everyone needs to participate):

SEVENTH MEETING: MAR 18 2019

All member present at the playing field under the Kfé étudiant (1.5 hours)

Agenda

Discussion/progress made (when no name is written, everyone participated)

  • Modification of the angle of the mat (slightly turned in the same direction as the front wheel)

  • Modification of the horizontal placement of the carbon arrow for better support

  • Glue the bearings of the outer back wheels so that they only turn with the carbon arrow (doesn't turn independently of it)
